Blackjack History stems from other French games such as “French Ferme” and “Chemin de Fer”. These two names translate to “Firm French” and “Iron Way”. French casinos already offered games of blackjack as early as the 1700’s. They referred to it as “Vingt-et-Un” which, translates to “Twenty-and-A. Since the 1800’s, blackjack grew in popularity. Today, its popularity still stands.
Blackjack is fairly easy to play. Using a single deck of cards (less the jokers), a few counting skills and pocket change, 2 or more people can enjoy hours of play. It is said that the playing cards used for blackjack were invented in China, around 900BC. Originally, they were referred to as the “French Pack”.
The history of blackjack is not one that changed on a regular basis. It is just a simple game enjoyed by several gamblers. There have been a few additions to blackjack since its inception, but these changes are basically variations of how and where the game is played.
